Diamanda La Berge Dramm - Chimp Live As if she’s sitting next to you on the couch, Diamanda La Berge Dramm’s voice is intimate and immediate. The simplicity of her speaking, singing and violin playing draws the listener into her fantasy world—magical and at the same time crystal clear. With simple tools—two violins, a small table, a studio lamp and a few pedals—she creates an intimate and crystal-clear world on stage. The audience witnesses the unfolding of Chimp’s sound world: the acoustic violin as the first source, the voice as transportation, and the electric violin facilitating it all. Nothing more than that—completely minimal. Yet the result is maximal. Drawing from her rich musical background, Dramm combines classical training, the American avant-garde, new music and a deep love of alternative pop. These influences are not presented as references, but filtered into a highly personal musical language: direct, natural and unmistakably her own.
